The same four La Quinta courses as last year — SilverRock Resort, La Quinta Country Club, the Nicklaus Private at PGA West and the Palmer Private at PGA West, which will host the final round. Format: Rotating around the quartet of courses, professionals play with three amateur partners for the first four rounds of the 90-hole event. Following a 72-hole cut, only the pros play in the final round. Purse: $5 million. Last year: Bill Haas (pictured) birdied the final hole to best Matt Kuchar, Bubba Watson and Tim Clark by one shot. Heavy rains early in the week led to the cancellation of one amateur round. Legacy: This tournament didn’t necessarily build the Coachella Valley into the vacation and golf haven it is today, but it certainly didn’t hurt. It began its relationship with the PGA Tour in 1960 and saw Arnold Palmer shoot a blistering 338 to win the inaugural event (that record score held up until 1977). In 1965, longtime desert resident Bob Hope lent his name to the tournament, an association that has continued following his death in 2003. Why you should go: It remains the biggest golf party in the desert, thanks in no small part to the contingent of film, TV recording and sports stars that play. Popular Course Rotation Remains - For the second year, the four tournament courses will all be in the City of La Quinta, within a three-mile drive of each other. Once again, the Palmer Private at PGA WEST will be the host course and will be joined by La Quinta Country Club, SilverRock Resort and the Nicklaus Private at PGA WEST -- all favorites of the pros. It's just a little more than four months away, and many exciting things taking place.

Few would have known at the time, but the 2010 Bob Hope Classic was the launching pad for several of the young stars on the PGA TOUR. For example, the three players who tied for second have all gone on to have fantastic seasons.

Matt Kuchar won The Barclays, the first event in the FedExCup Playoffs and is still first in the FedExCup points race going into the TOUR Championship. He's had a most consistent season, with finishes for the 11 top-10 year and a spot on the Ryder Cup team.

Bubba Watson who was the Hope's fourth-round leader and also a runner-up, won his first TOUR event, the Travelers Championship, and also amassed enough points to earn his way onto the Ryder Cup squad.

Tim Clark, the third of the players tying for second at the Hope, also won his first TOUR event in 2010, and it was a big one - The PLAYERS Championship. Like the aforementioned, he is playing at the TOUR Championship with his sights set on winning the FedExCup and like Kuchar and Watson, he's moved into the top 30 on the World Golf Rankings.

Of the 30 players who qualified for The TOUR Championship, the finale to the FedExCup Playoffs, 13 played in the 2010 Bob Hope Classic, including 2007 Hope winner Charley Hoffman, who won the Deutsche Bank Championship, the second leg of the FedExCup Playoffs. Not in the field for The Tour Championship was 2010 Hope champ Bill Haas, who finished 31st on the FedExCup points list.

The Bob Hope Classic has long been an early-season event where players can sharpen their games - and the number of majors and tournaments they've gone on to win is testament to that fact.

DISCOUNTS ON EARLY PURCHASE OF CREDENTIALS

Tickets and badges for the 2011 Bob Hope Classic are now available, with special savings being offered if purchased early. For example, a Clubhouse Badge, good for the entire week and providing complete access to all courses and clubhouses is only $125 when purchased by December 31; a $25 savings. The Daily Gallery Pass Package, which includes a full week of passes good for all four courses, is $75 until the end of the year and $100 in 2011. Single-day tickets are $20 when purchased before January 1 - a 20% savings.

The Hope also is offering a limited number of Preferred Parking passes for $50, when accompanied with the purchase of a Clubhouse Badge. These VIP Parking passes are good for parking at PGA WEST on Wednesday through Sunday.
